Chi’s Sweet Home by Konata Konami

Chi’s Sweet Home follows Chi, a kitten that wanders away from her family one day and ends up adopted by a family and their young son. The first volume follows Chi and her new family adjusting to having a cat (and Chi learning to be a house pet) while Chi continues to be distracted in her quest to find her mother again. The series is mostly from Chi’s point of view, but also looks at Chi from the perspective of her human family. Full of kitty antics that any cat owner can appreciate and an adorably rambunctious protagonist, Chi’s Sweet Home is a fun read for children and adults alike. The series is also has lovely full color watercolor artwork that keeps the series bright and engaging. It’s a series that is too cute to pass up.

My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi

In a world where 80% of the population has superpowers known as ‘quirks,’ and superheroes and villains battle on the streets, Izuku Midoriya would give anything to become a hero. Unfortunately, Izuku was born quirkless, and without a quirk he doesn’t stand a chance to get into the top school for heroes. But then Izuku meets the number one hero, All Might, and gets the chance he always hoped for, the chance to be a hero. Armed with a new quirk he barely understands and off to UA, a school for heroes-to-be, Izuku takes steps forward toward his dream as All Might’s successor.

If you’re a superhero fan, or just like characters with special powers, My Hero Academia is a great series to get into. It follows a cast of heroes-to-be as they learn to use their abilities and face threats from a league of villains. My Hero Academia explores what it means to be a hero as Izuku strives to be the best hero he can be.
