Staff book review by Gloria Miller of GCPL’s Middlefield Branch

August 17, 2018

Out of the Ordinary, by Jen Turano

This book takes place in the 1800s in New York. It takes a paid companion’s journey from being a wallflower in society’s circle to becoming special to someone. The lady that this companion is attached to has her own idiosyncrasies and gets Gertrude, the paid companion, involved in her schemes.

This book is the second in the “Apart from the Crowd” series.  This is a new author for me and I’ve almost read all of what she has written. She puts humor in her stories, which I love.

I would recommend this author and any of her books to anyone who likes adventure and that time period. It’s an inspirational book any teen or adult would enjoy.

Reading runs in the family! Gloria’s granddaughter is reading to her doll. GCPL’s next book review?

Currently, I am reading Finding Margo by Jen Turano.
