Staff book review from Lori MacRitchie: You Don’t Own Me

August 2, 2019

You Don’t Own Me by Mary Higgins Clark and Alafair Burke

I chose this book because I really enjoy books by these writers. It takes place in current day and begins with a murder. The main suspect is the victim’s wife because society is convinced that she did it. The two authors also put in a secondary plot about the two people who have a television show “Under Suspicion”, which is a show that solves murders that haven’t been solved. They will take the case and try to solve it. I like their books because the chapters are short, they add new characters and there is a subplot about one of the characters and their romance. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a little romance with the main story. But, just when you think the story is over, something happens–I won’t tell you –you will have to read the book.

Another book I read by these authors is the The Cinderella Murders. I really enjoyed it.

Lori is a shelver at our Bainbridge Branch.
