It takes a village they say. Here at GCPL we are proud of our team. They contribute in various roles to keep library operations smoothly rolling along. They are valued members of the community. #MeetGCPL highlights a library team member and lets you get to know them a little bit more, so when you see them at your local Branch you can connect further.
For this #MeetGCPL we would like to introduce you to Ann. Ann is originally from Pittsburgh and now works as a Circulation Clerk at the Thompson Branch.
– Favorite book:
The Outlander series, by Diana Gabaldon
– Fur baby:
We have a boxer/lab mix named Maisy. She’s three, stubborn, energetic, loving and reminds me a lot of a toddler.
– Favorite vacation spot:
My husband and I recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. Since it was during the pandemic, we thought we’d have a quiet “share a cupcake and a kiss” type of celebration. At the last minute, we decided to go to Hocking Hills for the weekend. That was an unexpected, romantic trip. So those are my favorite vacations – the surprising ones, wherever they are.
– How she spends free time:
– I read a lot. Enjoying books is one of the most constant things in my life. I love reading, as I’m sure most of you do, too!
– Something new she would like to try:
I would like to learn to try more new things without fear. Like the expression says – learn to say “yes” more.
– Something she suggests everyone should try:
Find things to be happy about and then don’t be afraid to work to get them.
– Most memorable library experience:
Our local library had a children’s section that I loved and imagined living in. It had a series of books by L Frank Baum, about Oz and Dorothy. (Apparently, Dorothy went back to Oz after the movie.) I have loved libraries ever since, although I’m OK with not living in one.
– Favorite quote:
“Courage is doing what you are afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you are scared” Eddie Rickenbacker
