Meet GCPL: Middlefield Branch Library Aide Grace

September 1, 2021

It takes a village they say. Here at GCPL we are proud of our team. They contribute in various roles to keep library operations smoothly rolling along. They are valued members of the community. The #MeetGCPL blog highlights a library team member and lets you get to know them a little bit more, so when you see them at your local Branch you can connect further.

For this #MeetGCPL we would like to introduce you to Grace. She grew up in Middlefield just steps away from the library. She currently works at our Middlefield Branch as a Library Aide.

Her favorite place to vacation:
Anywhere there is a beach, or with family. Family beach vacations are my favorite vacations of all!

Favorite book or series:
The Babysitters Club will always hold a special place in my heart. Even now, I enjoy re-reading them. (And maybe getting a little nostalgic.)

How she likes to spend her free time:
Most of my family lives outside of Ohio, so I always look forward to visiting when I can. I have 2 nephews who are the light of my life, so the most exciting parts of my free time are when I get to hang out with them.

Fur Babies:
I have two cats – Violet and Maddie. Violet is young and spunky, and Maddie is old and sleepy so they fight a lot of the time but they’re each so sweet in their own way!

Something she believes everyone should do at least once:
Get a tattoo! I view them as colorful, permanent stickers that remind me of different chapters in my life.

Something she would love to learn how to do:
I would love to have any sort of artistic talent or ability, like drawing or painting. I love consuming and viewing art, I just wish I had the natural affinity to create it myself.

Her library story:
Libraries have been an integral part of my life since birth. I went from having my first library card at 2 years old, to the library becoming an after-school haven, to working in libraries. My most memorable experience is my friends and I getting kicked out of the Middlefield Library as dorky middle schoolers. None of my friends were too concerned about it, but I remember feeling absolutely humiliated and crying to my mom about how scared I was that I wasn’t going to be allowed to go back to get more books. Little did I know that a few years later, I would be working there.
