We finished compiling the 2022 numbers, and I would like to thank the staff, patrons, and community for making it a memorable year for Geauga County Public Library. We had 674,581 visits from patrons, 4,582 of which were new patrons that got library cards. Furthermore, we hosted 3,966 study sessions or public meetings in our study rooms and conference spaces for a total of 34,352 community members. As for our programming statistics, our library staff presented 3,240 programs, attended by 116,246 patrons. The library’s diverse program schedule showcased the creativity and dedication of the Geauga County Public Library team to helping the Geauga County community as is illustrated by the sheer number of patrons who attended our storytimes, book discussions, craft programs, and more.
2023 is an exciting year for Geauga County Public Library as we celebrate our 60th Anniversary of forming the county-wide system that has become an essential service for many residents. To commemorate our 60th Anniversary, we have planned a series of events throughout the year to celebrate, including the bingo scavenger hunt, a staff and community cookbook, and a huge birthday party in August. Follow our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts and sign up for our digital newsletter, Lines & Links Lite, to receive the most up-to-date information about the 60th Anniversary and other Geauga County Public Library news.
And in recognition of our 60th Anniversary, we will also use this space to highlight the value of your Geauga County Public Library card with 60 excellent resources, programs, and events available to you at a moment’s notice.
1) Explore Our Unique Cookbook Collection & Expand Your Culinary Skills
Thanks to our library’s programs, extensive cookbook collections, and digital resources, you can explore fun new recipes, exciting international foods, or new healthy cooking options with ease. For example, I often spend time in the winter whipping up new soup recipes or baking pies for family, friends, and neighbors. Two books I used this winter were 101 Greatest Soups on the Planet: Every Savory Soup, Stew, Chili, and Chowder You Could Ever Crave & The Perfect Pie: Your Ultimate Guide to Classic and Modern Pies, Tarts, Galettes, and More. So, visit your local Geauga County Public Library Branch, browse our extensive cookbook collection, and cook or bake something new and exciting for your friends and family!

2) Explore the Past & Present through Newsbank’s Plain Dealer Database
While The Plain Dealer has experienced a decrease in daily readers since the early 2010s, surprisingly, its value and relevance to the library’s patrons has grown tenfold since its partnership with NewsBank. Their partnership has allowed our patrons to access digital editions of The Plain Dealer dating back to April 7, 1845!
Whether you use this database to read The Plain Dealer’s newest publications or to research your family’s history, NewsBank’s Plain Dealer digital archive is an invaluable resource that grows more relevant with time. Log on and see what you can find!

3) Access Real-Time Homework Help with BrainFuse HelpNow
One of my favorite and most frequently used resources the Geauga County Public Library offers to its patrons is BrainFuse HelpNow. BrainFuse HelpNow is a digital resource that prioritizes on-demand eLearning for all ages and all skill levels, and includes features like real-time homework help with live tutors, a 24-hour writing lab, and an on-demand foreign language lab to help you with all your learning-related needs. BrainFuse HelpNow is a go-to resource for my family as we enter the fourth quarter of school, especially when we are looking for help with end-year projects and assignments.
