Press Release
Geauga County Public Library is excited to announce a significant step forward in its mission to serve the Chardon community and its growing needs. During the September 17th Board of Trustees meeting, the Library Board approved a purchase agreement of vacant land located at 367 Park Avenue. We anticipate this site will serve as the new location for the Chardon Branch.
“We know the Chardon Branch has been a beloved part of the town square for many years, and leaving the square is bittersweet for all of us. We explored many possibilities to remain on the square, but ultimately, we were unable to meet the needs of the community in our current location. While this is a change, the new location offers many exciting benefits and will allow us to better serve our community in the long term.” – Kris Carroll, Director.
This new site will offer a variety of improvements and opportunities, including:
Location
The new site is still conveniently located. It will be walkable for many Chardon residents and feature more parking, which will improve access for all.
Increased Meeting & Gathering Spaces
The new branch will provide more meeting rooms and flexible spaces, better serving the needs of local organizations, community groups, and patrons. This will significantly enhance the Library’s ability to host events and provide gathering spaces for the public.
Accessibility
We are committed to making the new Chardon Branch accessible to everyone. The new building will be designed with accessibility at the forefront, ensuring all patrons can benefit from our services and resources.
Expanded Learning & Quiet Areas
The new facility will offer designated areas for active learning, family engagement, and quiet study. This will provide patrons with more tailored spaces to suit their needs, whether they’re looking for a vibrant learning environment or a peaceful place to focus.
Geauga County Public Library’s current Chardon Branch has served the community well for many years, and we’re proud of the impact it has had on the residents and organizations of Chardon. The new branch will continue this relationship and enable us to meet the Chardon community’s growing needs, expand our services, and continue our mission of lifelong learning and community connection.
The Library will share updates on the progress of the new location in the coming months. For more information and the latest updates, visit our Chardon Branch News page or reach out to us directly at 440.286-6811.
