Exam Proctoring

Testing Procedures

In support of life-long learning, Geauga County Public Library proctors exams as a public service. This service is free and available to library patrons. It is the student’s responsibility to verify that the proctoring conditions provided by Geauga County Public Library meet the requirements established by the institution administering the exam.

How It Works

To use this service, students must schedule a proctoring session at least 5 days in advance and present a valid photo ID on the scheduled exam day. Students are expected to arrive on time and with the necessary exam-taking materials. All testing should be completed 30 minutes before the Library’s posted closing time. If the student in unable to attend the scheduled session, they must notify the Library as soon as possible.

If the Library does not receive exam materials from the student’s academic institution at least 24 hours prior to the proctoring session, the student will be contacted about canceling or postponing the session. Completed exams will be returned to the student’s academic institution by fax, digital scan, or website upload. Original exam materials will be kept for 15 weeks and shredded thereafter.

For each request, a Library staff member will be scheduled as the exam proctor and will reserve a study room for the proctoring session. Library staff are not required to provide students or academic institutions with their personal information and cannot provide direct supervision.

Exams requiring private, wired internet connections cannot be accommodated and specialty software downloaded on Library devices is prohibited.
