The Library Away From the Library
Geauga County Public Library’s Outreach Services, located at our Geauga West Branch, is where the Library is brought to you. Through services like Books By Mail and Care Facility Delivery, we bring the Library to our patrons who have special needs or may experience difficulty using the Library and its services through traditional means.
Why We Do It
We are committed to ensuring library and information access for all Geauga community members. We embody this commitment by making bi-weekly stops to assisted living spaces, retirement facilities, private residences, and community centers, connecting individuals with accessibility issues to our services and collections.
Who We Serve
Outreach Services are available to individuals and community organizations located in Geauga County. This includes individuals and groups of all ages, as well as those with disabilities, extended illnesses, or any other type of condition that makes it physically impossible to access our branches.
Available Services
Care Facility Delivery
Care Facility Delivery is a bi-weekly service that delivers materials to individuals residing at care facilities within the Library’s service area. Participating patrons may either place specific materials on hold or express reading interests to the Outreach Librarian, who will select materials according to their preferences. All circulating materials are eligible through this services; this includes (but is not limited to) print materials like books and magazines and audio-visual items such as audiobooks, movies, and CDs.
This service is reserved for home- or facility-bound patrons due to disability, extended illness, or any other type of condition which makes it physically impossible to access in-person Library services; lack of transport is not a qualifying access issue.
Books By Mail
Books By Mail is a service that connects outreach-eligible patrons outside of our regular service routes with the Library’s collection through the postal service.
Patrons may not use this service and borrow materials at a Library branch at the same time. Participating patrons may either place specific materials on hold or express reading interests to the Outreach Librarian, who will select materials according to their preferences. All circulating materials are eligible through this service.
Homebound Services
Homebound Services is a similar service to Care Facility Delivery, though library materials are delivered to the participant’s home rather than care facility.
Participating patrons may either place specific materials on hold or express reading interests to the Outreach Librarian, who will select materials according to their preferences. All circulating materials are eligible through this service.
Outreach Programming
Are you or someone you know an outreach-eligible patron interested in attending or hosting a library program? The Library provides outreach programming both in-person and virtually, including programs at local adult day care facilities in collaboration with the facilities’ management and to interested non-profit community events and organizations.

Talking Book Library
As an Ohio resident, patrons who are blind, visually impaired, and print and/or reading disabled are eligible to participate in the state’s Talking Book Program. Participating patrons can borrow audio, braille, and downloadable materials from the program’s Talking Book Library.
