what we can digitize
- Vinyl (33 1/3 rpm, 45 rpm, 78 rpm)
- Audio Cassettes
- VHS tapes
- VHS-C (With an adapter that can be used in the VHS player.)
- 8 mm film and Super 8 film.
- Hi-8 tapes
- Large format film
- Photos and documents as large as 8 x 11 inches
Lab Locations, Scheduling, and Training
The below table shows what formats can be digitized at each lab. The Main Lab at Bainbridge, The Video Lab at The Administrative Center, The Photo Lab at Chardon, and the Geauga West Lab
You can schedule a session during library hours at the specified locations. You will need to sign the Digital Legacy Lab agreement before you can use the equipment.

The GCPL Digital Legacy Lab consists of video and photo digitization hardware along with a Desktop PC loaded with various image, audio, and video editing software, including, but not limited to, Adobe Creative Cloud, Audacity, and GIMP. Patrons must provide their own storage device or use a cloud-based storage program. Instructional materials including videos are located on each Digital Legacy lab computer.
