Book Bonanza! Gothic Edition
Middlefield Branch
Saturday, October 11, 2 – 3:30 PM
In this adult program, the Middlefield Branch will travel back in time and embrace the gothic aesthetics of Edgar Allan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker, and Ann Radcliffe in celebration of the Halloween season. Program activities include a Book Talk Café, or a discussion group for fellow book lovers to chat about their favorite books; a festive scavenger hunt, complete with costumed historical characters and authors; book trivia alongside the branch’s fireplace; and a festive photo station using the Library’s green screen and collection of gothic props and backgrounds. Attending patrons are encouraged to come and celebrate with Library staff in costume.
“Book Bonanza offers a unique opportunity for readers to venture back in time and connect with friends and classic literature through shared stories, experiences, and literary history,” says Geauga County Public Library’s Marketing Coordinator Jonathon Kopp. “This year’s gothic theme highlights some of the most influential authors in classic literature and offers a fun, engaging way for the community to come together and experience the Halloween holiday.”
