Why Buy When You Can Borrow
Geauga County Public Library’s Library of Things is a collection of non-traditional library items that embody our mission of connecting library cardholders to information, services, and resources that inspire discovery, learning, and growth.
To borrow items from our Library of Things collection, you must have an active Geauga County Public Library card. Certain items may require additional signatures or agreements prior to checkout; library staff will inform you if any additional documentation is needed. Hobby, Craft, & Reading Kits
Adapted Toy Kits
Adapted Toy Kits contain a book and an interactive toy with an external switch, making it easier for children with limited fine motor skills to use independently.
Birding Kits
Birding Kits contain a field guide to the birds of Ohio and one set of lightweight, waterproof high-definition binoculars.
Crochet Kits
Crochet Kits contain a beginner’s guide to crocheting and a complete set of crochet tools, including needles, stitch markers, and a knitting gauge.

Early Reader Backpacks
Early Reader Backpacks include an early reader or non-fiction book and a toy or game that reinforce the kit’s theme, the goals of the Common Core, and STEM curriculum.
Knitting Kits
Knitting kits are available in two options, each with a different needle size. Every kit includes a beginner’s knitting guide and a complete set of essential tools.
Lit Boxes
Lit Boxes contain a popular board or emerging-reader book, an age-appropriate toy, and selection of reading-readiness questions for families to complete or solve.
STEAM Kits
STEAM kits feature engaging educational activities designed to help young learners develop skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.
Equipment Kits
Document Scanner
Document Scanner kits contain one EPSON WorkForce ES-400ii Scanner, an AC adapter (with power cables), a USB 3.0 cable, and a set of user manuals and guides.
Karaoke Machine
Karaoke Machine kits contain one karaoke machine, two wireless microphones, a Type-C cable, an AUX cable, and a shoulder strap for transport.
Metal Detector
Metal Detector kits contain a metal detector, a shovel and expander rod, one set of headphones, and a backpack for transport.
Slide Scanner
Slide Scanner kits contain a digital film scanner, one 50mmx50mm slide holder, one film adapter (for 110mm, 126mm, and 135mm film), and one 8GB SD card.
Telescopes
Telescope kits include one telescope and a pocket guide from the National Audubon Society. Kits are non-holdable and can be checked out by contacting your local branch.

Thermal Camera kits contain a handheld thermal camera, a carrying case, a USB cable, and a set of user manuals and guides.
Traffic Cones
Traffic Cone Kits include five 28″ collapsible traffic cones packaged in a carrying bag and are ideal for beginner drivers practicing for the maneuverability portion of their driving exam.

The Yard Game collection contains 19 different yard games for patrons to borrow and try. Each kits contains the complete game and materials, as well as its instructions.
