Press Release
The Geauga County Auditor’s Office, the League of Women Voters of Geauga, and Geauga County Public Library will host a series of in-person, moderated educational programs in 2026, examining how property taxes function and how their potential abolishment could affect local government and community services.
In Property Tax Changes: What They Could Mean for Our Public Services, Schools, and Geauga County, a panel of local leaders that includes elected officials and local government representatives will explain how property taxes operate in Geauga County, what it does and does not fund, and how they are used by various organizations and agencies. The objectives of the program are to define, describe, and inform:
1) What services are provided and how are they funded?
2) What service changes could look like if property taxes are abolished?
3) What are the other funding options for services if property taxes are abolished?

Each program is open to the public and free to attend, and program organizers encourage participants to submit questions during the program.
