Press Release
On May 12, 2026, the Geauga County Board of Commissioners completed the purchase of Geauga County Public Library’s Administrative Center, located at 12701 Ravenwood Drive in Chardon. The Library will continue to occupy the building through June 30, 2027, after which all administrative operations will relocate to the new Chardon Branch at 345 Park Avenue.
This change, first announced as a letter on intent on July 22, 2025, is a part of Geauga County Public Library’s ongoing efforts to streamline services and increase efficiency. Consolidating administrative functions within the new Chardon Branch eliminates the need to maintain a separate facility and reduce associated costs, including routine maintenance, HVAC system upgrades, and parking lot repairs. With these expenses rising significantly in recent years, the move represents a proactive step toward long-term savings and reinforces the Library’s commitment to fiscal responsibility.
“This transition represents a significant milestone for the Library,” said Kris Carroll, Geauga County Public Library Director. “By consolidating our administrative operations into the new Chardon Branch and reducing the number of buildings we own and maintain, we are intentionally right-sizing our footprint and focusing on greater operational efficiencies. Co-locating administration with a public branch allows us to maximize our space, streamline operations, and direct more of our resources toward what matters most, providing excellent library services to the community.”
The building was purchased through a partnership with the Geauga County Board of Commissioners and Geauga County Department on Aging (GDA). Following the Library’s departure, the Department on Aging will begin renovations to prepare the facility for full Senior Center operations.
