Press Release
Geauga County Public Library (GCPL) will kick off its Summer Reading program on Saturday, June 1, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the Geauga County Fairgrounds and will conclude the program on Wednesday, July 31.
This year’s Summer Reading theme is “Adventure Begins at Your Library,” which encourages library goers of all ages to spend their summer with Geauga County Public Library and explore all that it has to offer. The Library’s 2024 Summer Reading Kickoff will feature many opportunities for families and kids to engage in adventure through family-friendly activities, entertainment, and refreshments. Visit here for additional information.
Summer Reading is Geauga County Public Library’s central program that helps young readers support their interest in and progression of their reading skills during the summer months. The lack of a healthy relationship with reading and learning during this period can place children at an academic disadvantage once school begins again in the fall and is a phenomenon referred to as the summer slide.
Library-goers of all ages can sign up for Geauga County Public Library’s Summer Reading today by visiting any library branch location or GeaugaLibrary.net/SRP. Participants are required to have an active library card to participate in this program. Library cards are free and can be obtained by visiting any library branch location.
Participants can track their reading and activity progress throughout the summer to earn prizes and raffle entries into Summer Reading’s grand prize drawings. Progress can be tracked by using Beanstack or by completing and turning in entry slips at any Geauga County Public Library branch location.
Geauga County Public Library’s Summer Reading is made possible through the generous support of the Geauga County Library Foundation. For more information concerning the Foundation and their work with the Library, visit here.
